Tag Heuer: The Official Timekeeper's of the 2023 London Marathon
On the 23rd of April people from all over the world gathered to the streets of London to either take part or cheer along at the 2023 London marathon. The massive 26.2 mile run was completed by roughly 48,000 people – more than any previous London marathon! Before we get any further into the blog we must say a huge congratulations to the winners Kelvin Kiptum, who completed the marathon in 2 hours 1 minute 25 seconds, and Sifan Hassan, who completed the marathon in 2 hours 18 minutes 33 seconds. Both of the winners take home a lovely prize of £44,000. Of course all these running times needed to be accurately recorded, “And how was that done?” I hear you ask. Well, it was all thanks Tag Heuer.
Once again the event partnered up with Tag Heuer as the Official timekeepers of the marathon. Tag Heuer have been the official timekeepers of the London marathon since 2016, and in 2021 they announced that the partnership was being renewed to last until 2023. I wonder if they will be back in 2024?
In 2016 Hugh Brasher, the event director of the London marathon, said “We are delighted to confirm TAG Heuer as the Official Timekeeper of the London Marathon through to 2023. We are proud of our great relationship with TAG Heuer which dates from 2016 and is based on our mutual commitment to excellence and a desire to constantly seek improvements and innovations. We are looking forward to developing our partnership further in the years to come.”
Tag Heuer are renowned for their precision timekeeping with watches that have an accuracy of 5/10,000ths of a second. The brand have partnerships with many racing events, and not just the ones by foot but also motorsport. It’s only right that a brand which has been perfecting their timekeeping since 1860 is responsible for recording the times for the runners.

I take my hat off to everyone who took part in the marathon and say a massive well done! Now we will have to wait until the 2024 London marathon to see whether Tag Heuer will be back as the official timekeepers for another year, or if there's a new watch brand on the block. Hope you've enjoyed this weeks blog, if you have be sure to subscribe to the newsletter so you get told when a new one is out :)
